About Sensmet
Sensmet, founded in 2017, is a leading technology company in the real-time analysis of strategically important battery metals, driven by its commitment to scientific excellence and industry innovation.
Sensmet’s patented breakthrough technology, Micro-Discharge Optical Emission Spectroscopy µDOES®, enables the online multi-metal analysis of aqueous samples. The µDOES® represents a rethinking of the principles behind ICP-OES, and is designed to meet the robustness requirement of continuous and fully automated industrial process measurement. Critically important applications include the continuous monitoring of lithium and other battery metals during production processes, and in battery metal recycling.
50x less maintenance
Sensmet µDOES® analyser can provide real-time, simultaneous quantification of dissolved metal concentrations such as Ni, Co, Li, Mn and Cu in hydrometallurgical processes and mining waters.
The µDOES® has been designed to streamline the measurement process compared to off-line laboratory ICP-OES methods. The µDOES® performance is comparable to traditional ICP-OES, yet µDOES® is designed to meet but with the robustness required for continuous and fully automated industrial process monitoring. The robust design drastically reduces maintenance requirements with the absence of components such as an RF coil, a spray chamber, and a nebulizer of ICP-OES.
Features
Continuous Measurement
If you want to improve, you must measure. Online water quality measurement has many advantages. Continuous monitoring systems recognise the changing process water conditions as they occur, allowing immediate corrective actions.
Adjustable Frequency of Analysis
The actual DOES® water quality analysis takes just a few seconds. In addition, the system automatically cleans and assures the analytical quality between the measurements resulting in a typical measurement interval of 5 — 30 minutes.
Depending on the measurement frequency, the maintenance interval can be extended to 3+ months.
Low Cost of Ownership
Because the Micro-discharge is directly created inside the water sample, there is no need for carrier gas like argon which is typically used in ICP-OES and ICP-MS laboratory equipment. Both ICP-OES and ICP-MS can consume 15–20 L/min of argon gas resulting in up to €15 000 annual savings potential when using µDOES® in continuous process monitoring.
Compared to traditional inorganic analytical methods, Sensmet µDOES® technology does not require any expensive or hazardous chemical reagents for the analysis.
Benefits
Continuous, real-time measurement
100% automated system with extended maintenance intervals
Broad applicability from lab-on-site to process monitoring
High analytical performance
Suitable for real-time analysis of light-weight elements such as lithium, sodium, magnesium and potassium, which pose a challenge for many other methods
Low cost of ownership
