May 30, 2024At first glance, it might seem like a Michelin-starred chef and a high-tech start-up company have little in common. But yesterday, our company had an extraordinary team-building day at Sipoonkorpi National Park that revealed surprising similarities.
Our wilderness guide was none other than the multiple Michelin-starred chef, Mr. Markus Maulavirta – one of Finland’s most esteemed top chefs. Yes, you read that right. He was our wilderness guide. Truly incredible.
When you think about it, both a top chef and a start-up are driven by an intrinsic desire to succeed, to be the best in the world. Mr. Maulavirta shared his insights about focus and world-class dedication in the kitchen that deeply resonated with our team. His commitment to giving the customer the best possible experience, even if it may mean sometimes acting like a bull in a china shop, mirrors our own approach to product development.
Teamwork was another key theme. Just as a top restaurant relies on its team, so does a start-up. A restaurant doesn’t function without team spirit, no matter how talented the individuals are.
What was a top chef doing deep in the forest? We feasted on the finest delicacies the forest had to offer, all cooked over a campfire. Chef Maulavirta showed us which herbs to pick and started the fire with flint and steel. Quite different from what you’d expect from a Michelin-starred chef! He has served world presidents and even invited President Obama to his sauna in Finland.
The atmosphere was magical. We enjoyed the most delicious morel mushroom soup, flame-roasted salmon, and pancakes made using grandmother’s recipe, all over a campfire.
It was a day we won’t soon forget, blending culinary excellence with the rugged charm of the wilderness.
