Sensmet Hires Aappo Roos as the new CSO

Sensmet has named Aappo Roos as its new Chief Sales Officer. Mr Roos has a long track record in real-life applications and sales of state-of-the-art XRF, FTIR and hyperspectral measurement systems. Mr Roos possesses over 15 years of management responsibility in international technology companies in the United States, Germany and Finland. Most recently, Mr Roos acted as the Managing Director of Gasmet Technologies GmbH, Karlsruhe, Germany. Before that, Mr Roos served as President and CEO of Specim, a hyperspectral imaging company that was acquired by Konica Minolta in 2020.

Fresh Sensmet CSO comments: “Sensmet team has developed a unique analytical solution for industrial use that will impact industries beyond water analysis. To name an example of its power, Sensmet’s μDOES Multi-metal Water Analyser is the only existing system in the world that can measure lithium concentrations reliably in process water, real-time and cost-efficiently. Such technology can eventually enhance the lithium production process and, even more so, help develop recycling procedures for modern batteries. In addition to lithium, μDOES measures cobalt, nickel and rare earth element concentrations in liquids – all important metals for batteries and electric vehicles as well as the electronics industry. I look forward to bringing the customers’ needs and customer-oriented approach with me to Sensmet. It will be a challenge to select the right application areas and focus our efforts when we have such powerful technology in our hands. We can only reach our goal and succeed when we understand our customers and work accordingly.”

Regardless of his result-oriented passion for work, Mr Roos values his family beyond anything. He will go to the forest with his wife to enjoy berry and mushroom picking whenever there is an opportunity. Besides nature, his hobbies include sports, reading and constant learning of anything new. Mr Roos always tries to find efficient ways to do everyday exercising: no matter the weather, he’s riding the bike to the work while listening to German language audiobooks - and his hunting dog is often running alongside his bicycle.
