Platform Economy in Metals Processing (AMET) R&D project has ended, and the final report has been published. In 2019-2020 the AMET research consortium developed new monitoring and process control services for the metals industry. Sensmet was a part of the project group with SSAB Europe Oy, Ovako Imatra Oy Ab, Sapotech Oy, Luxmet Oy, Kaltio Technologies Oy, Quva Oy, University of Oulu and Åbo Akademi.
Sensmet’s main contribution to the project was to develop a new water analyser system for real-time metals monitoring in demanding exhaust gas scrubbers’ liquids. Together with SSAB Europe, Sensmet successfully piloted the µDOES® Multi-metal Water Analyser in real-time analysis of metals in the scrubber liquid of a blast furnace system. Correlations were observed between the measured metal concentrations and process events. Online scrubber liquid monitoring improves process monitoring and control by allowing early detection of process events and enabling a real-time view of the wastewater quality.
